We are looking for an inspirational Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo to join our dedicated team at Cambridge, a vibrant and inclusive maintained nursery school.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the strategic and operational leadership of our setting, working alongside the Headteacher to ensure the very best outcomes for all children — especially those with additional needs.

As Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo, you will:

• Lead and manage SEND provision across the school, ensuring effective identification, assessment, and support for children with additional needs.
• Support the Headteacher with day-to-day leadership and contribute to whole-school improvement and safeguarding.
• Champion inclusive practice and ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
• Work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed.
• Contribute to the school’s leadership team and model excellent teaching and learning practice in the early years.

We are looking for someone who is:

• An experienced, outstanding early years teacher, actively researching and developing best practise, with a thorough knowledge of early childhood development the latest EYFS curriculum and assessment expectations.
• Committed to, and be able to evidence, raising standards and improving life chances for all children whatever their starting points.
• A strategic thinker with a clear vision for the future development of our EYFS provision.
• An inspiring leader and outstanding role model who is able to communicate clearly and inspire others.
• Resilient, enthusiastic and solution focused, willing to try new initiatives or ways of working to solve problems.
• Committed to safeguarding and pastoral care.
• Committed to team working and collaboration with colleagues, parents and carers, governors and as part of the wider community.
• Committed to developing community engagement and enterprise initiatives.
• Holds (or is willing to complete) the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo).
• Has proven leadership skills and experience of leading SEND in an early years or primary setting.
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusive education and high expectations for all learners.
• Is an excellent communicator with the ability to inspire and lead others.
• Thrives in a collaborative, caring, and reflective environment.
