We are St Helens Borough Council
Located in the heart of the Northwest close to Liverpool, Manchester and Lancashire, St Helens is a transformational Council which is passionate and ambitious for the communities we support. We provide a wide range of local authority services to the residents, businesses, schools, and visitors to the borough. We can only do this because of our highly valued, highly skilled workforce.
Working together, our workplace vision and values guide our organisation, and the contribution of our workforce is key to our culture journey. Employees with us receive a wide range of benefits including well-being in work, financial benefits, ways of working and learning and development support.
St Helens Borough Council is inviting applications for a Disclosure Officer.
We are a busy, friendly, well supported legal team situated in the Merseyside area with good transport links to surrounding areas. We have embraced new ways of working and the role will involve hybrid working, with some office attendance required.
The role works within the legal team and reports to the Principal Solicitor. You will be responsible for managing police and other regulatory requests for social care information held by Children’s and Adult Services. You will manage requests, and liaise with regulators, police and CPS as necessary. You will ensure compliance with GDPR, Data Protection Act and relevant protocols. You will review and redact information before disclosing to police or CPS. The role also deals with queries from council officers and provides records for historical requests.
We are looking for a candidate who has a good understanding of data protection and information governance and the ability to manage their own caseload with minimal supervision. You will have the ability to work under pressure and manage and prioritise your caseload to ensure that deadlines are met. You will have the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues, clients and partner agencies. You will have an eye for detail and the ability to redact complex and sensitive information accurately using the appropriate software tools.
We offer a supportive environment and training will be provided.
