We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and resilient individual to work as a specialist within our licensing team. This involves dealing with a range of business licences, including taxis, alcohol premises, gambling, animal welfare and scrap metal.
The work will involve building good relationships with licence-holders, applicants, councillors, colleagues and external partners, including the police, DVLA, trading standards and fire service to drive up standards. Workloads will often be heavy, so the ability to manage conflicting demands on your time is essential. You will also exercise good judgement and provide advice to a range of service users and provide technical support to colleagues. To do this it is essential you have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively and be committed to high standards of customer care. You should be a team player, willing to share what you know with colleagues and work collaboratively to deliver good outcomes. You will also prepare and present reports to Licensing Committee in relation to policy matters and licence hearings.
If you are an experienced enforcement officer, with a proactive, innovative approach that encourages compliance and behavioural change, then we would like to hear from you. It is essential you have knowledge of
current and proposed legislative frameworks, relating to licensing matters, within which the Council operates.

The post will be based in the Council’s Parker Lane Offices within Burnley Town Centre. We offer 26 days holiday per year, rising to 30 after 5 years of service, pro rata, and membership of the LGPS.
This is a Politically Restricted Post within the meaning of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
