We are looking for a full-time Regeneration and Economic Development Manager to lead a team of officers delivering Regeneration, Economic Development and the delivery of infrastructure projects within Castle Point. This role will be responsible for developing and delivering a programme of projects which will see our town centres, our seafront and our employment areas renewed and revitalised, and will ensure that our residents and local businesses are able to maximise on economic opportunities within the borough and wider. This role will also lead on delivering local infrastructure improvements, including the delivery of projects funded by community infrastructure levy.
This person will be an innovator, who is able to secure resources and get things delivered. They will have strong partnership working skills and they will be able to get partners and other stakeholders and businesses to want to work in and invest in Castle Point.
The Regeneration and Economic Development Management will be supported by a small team, including a Senior Economic Development Officer who will take the lead on the Economic Development Action Plan and Culture and Tourism Strategy.
You will have the following key skills and abilities:
- Highly developed interpersonal skills for persuading and influencing and the ability to build strong and effective relationships with partners, investors, residents and stakeholders
- Be innovative and be able to develop long term solutions for high complex issues, balancing political considerations
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to ensure that your team is balancing competing demands
- A strong ability to present complex and sometimes controversial information and to write effective reports for a range of different audiences including elected Members
- A good level of general IT skills
Experience
Significant previous practical experience working on the delivery of high value projects within a built environment setting is essential. Previous experience of working within a public sector organisation in a project delivery role is desirable.
Knowledge
We are seeking an individual with a relevant professional degree level qualification, or relevant equivalent experience in regeneration, planning, asset management or another area of the built environment. A qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience in project management is also essential.
