Are you passionate about the environment and ready to roll up your sleeves to help tackle food waste? Winchester City Council is launching an exciting new Food Waste Recycling Collection Service, and we’re looking for two enthusiastic, hands-on Recycling Officers to help make it a success.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a small, dedicated team working closely with our waste contractor, Biffa, to deliver real change across the district. You’ll be out and about, engaging with residents - particularly those in flats and communal properties - to ensure everyone can take part in the new service.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Visiting communal properties across the district to support the phased rollout of the new food waste service.
• Educating and encouraging residents to participate through updating signage and delivering clear, targeted communications.
• Gathering data to support new recycling opportunities.
• Identifying and resolving practical issues on the ground.
• Working independently, using your initiative and common sense to get the job done.

What We’re Looking For:

• A genuine interest in sustainability and waste reduction.
• A proactive, can-do attitude.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to speak with residents.
• Excellent organisation and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• A full UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle, and the ability to obtain business use insurance.
