In anticipation of the retirement of the current post holder, the Governing Body of this special needs school would like to appoint a full time, permanent School Business Manager.
Required from 01/09/2025, (with the offer of a slightly earlier start date to enable a handover from the current School Business Manager).
Meadowside is a school for pupils with severe and complex needs, ranging from 11-19 years of age. In September 2025 we will have 110+ pupils on roll. We are seeking a skilled and motivated School Business Manager who will play a key role in the efficient and effective management of the school’s business and operational functions. You will work closely with the Head Teacher, SLT, Data Manager, DPO, staff, governors, pupils and external partners to ensure the school runs smoothly and continues to offer the best possible experience and outcomes for our pupils.
The School Office has 3 additional highly experienced staff and is an effective and lively team. The Premises team also has 3 experienced key members of staff and the school is open 7 days a week during school term time to facilitate hire of our superb hydrotherapy/swimming pool.
As School Business Manager, you will:
Lead and manage the school’s financial, administrative, HR, H&S and facilities functions.
Support the Head Teacher in ensuring the effective use of resources and compliance with statutory requirements.
Manage premises, health and safety, and school contracts.
Develop and maintain robust financial systems, including budget planning and reporting.
Line-manage administrative staff and the premises team, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
Operate as a key member of the senior leadership team.
Manage the day-to-day operations of the school, including HR, and health and safety.
Work with the Site Manager to oversee their day-to-day management of the site
Ensure compliance with all legal, financial, and regulatory requirements in liaison with the Data Manager/Clerk to the Governing Body.
Support with fundraising and income generation where appropriate.
Work closely with the Head Teacher to support school improvement planning and resource allocation.
The ideal candidate will have:
Relevant qualifications, such as the Certificate/Diploma in School Business Management or equivalent.
Experience in financial management, HR, and administration, ideally in a school setting.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety regulations.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and inspire a team.
Strong IT skills, including proficiency in financial and management information systems.
A proactive and strategic approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
