The Strategy and Change Team is part of Strategy and Communities. We play a central role in shaping, forming and delivering change across the council, aligning the council to deliver.
Our team work collaboratively across the organization to provide strategic leadership, translate policy priorities to delivery, and design and execute corporate change programmes.
You will play a lead role in specifying and delivering high-profile and crosscutting projects across a range of different strategy and change functions. You will lead and manage projects, including research and policy development, governance, community and business planning, commissioning, and performance and review as part of the broader work of the Strategy and Change Team.
Southwark is the most fantastic place, filled with inspiring, passionate and caring people. We attract world-class employers, organisations and cultural institutions here. They in turn create jobs, bring in funding, and help make Southwark a great place to work, live and visit.
But, in common with the rest of our city, we are also a place of contrast. While so many thrive, others struggle. Inequalities in health, income and access to opportunities remain, despite efforts to reduce them.
As we look ahead to the future, we want our borough to be ready to grasp every opportunity, and to be strong enough to weather any future crises.
Next year we’re launching Southwark 2030 – our shared vision for Southwark developed together with local people, community groups, businesses and public services. Together we’re sharing our ambitions and hopes for the future so we can work together to get there.
And we’re not waiting to take action. The council is responding to what we’re hearing from residents now. We’ve embedded transforming priorities – shaped by what we’re hearing – in our Council Delivery Plan. We’re focused on nurturing thriving and sustainable neighbourhoods, closing the gap in life chances and embedding people power in all we do.
To get us there we're undertaking a broad programme of change to ensure how we work, who we work with and where we work match our ambition.
We’re looking for an experienced strategy officer with a background in change or service design to join the team working on either: one of our ‘transforming priority’ programmes; our Change Hub; or critical corporate transformation projects.
The incredible spirit of local people, and their desire to come together to find solutions and help others, is what makes our place great. If you can imagine yourself working with them – alongside an outstanding team of colleagues – to shape Southwark Council for the future we’d love to hear from you.
If you think you might be just what we need, but you’re not sure whether your skills, qualifications or experience are a perfect fit please speak to us. We don’t want to miss out on what you have to offer.
This is a permanent full-time position.
