About the role

Are you currently an experienced or aspiring Housing Options Team Leader looking for an exciting new challenge?

We are looking for a team leader to join our busy Housing Options service based in the council’s brand new town hall building, offering a first-class working environment and the opportunity for hybrid working.

Working collaboratively with the management team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day service delivery of our Housing Options Team providing housing advice and homelessness assessments. 

You will have strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, support and mentor your teams to deliver the best outcomes for applicants within legislative frameworks. You will be a creative leader who works well with everyone and who is passionate about preventing homelessness and delivering a service that meets the needs of our residents with a customer focus while carefully managing temporary accommodation expenditures.

You will have a thorough working knowledge of homelessness legislation and the ability to communicate effectively on all levels. You will be passionate about developing staff as well as being a key member of the service’s management team continuously looking to improve services through effective process and performance management.

Additional information

This role participates in the delivery of the council’s out-of-hours telephone service on a rota basis on Standby Category B

Due to the sensitive nature of client contact, the roles stated on this job description are exempt from being considered on a job share basis.

A Baseline Personnel Security Standard check is required as part of this role, and that will also entail the successful applicant undertaking a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

A full current UK driving licence will be an advantage but not essential.

Casual car user (currently under review) for which mileage will be paid.

Interviews will be held in person.
