Housing Enabling officer (part-time 15 hours a week)

Make a difference in Bracknell Forest by actively shaping the delivery of new homes to meet our future needs.  We strongly believe that all residents should be able to live in good quality, safe, and affordable homes, where they can be independent and financially secure.  Your role will help improve the lives of residents by promoting the development of new affordable homes that meet our priorities and needs.

Lots of organisations say you can make a difference. Here, everything we do is about improving the housing options available to our residents. You'll be given plenty of responsibility right from the start in helping to define our future housing needs and working with partners to deliver the homes that are needed. At the same time, we'll make sure you have all the training and support you need. Make your future about shaping tomorrow. Because we're Bracknell Forest.

What it's like working in our team...

You will be joining a friendly, dynamic and successful Housing Service, with a strong track record in delivering housing solutions, and a determination to overcome the housing challenges we face.

You will be in frequent communication with planning, housing and legal officers, as well as engaging with developers and affordable housing providers, to secure the housing that we need.

The work is diverse and innovative, frequently involving new challenges, but also the opportunity for finding creative solutions, and every day is different.

You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training:

Providing informed and specialist advice on affordable housing matters to planning officers in determining residential planning applications, using your understanding of housing needs and policies.

Working closely with planning, housing, and legal teams, and negotiating with developers and Registered Providers, to get the best possible outcomes in the delivery of affordable housing.

Advising on appropriate legal mechanisms, including s106 agreements, nominations agreements and lettings plans, to secure affordable housing development.

Monitoring affordable housing delivery, including government returns, to provide regular statistical reports and analysis on affordable housing commitments, starts and completions.

The benefits you will experience in the role are:

  • The satisfaction of making an impact on new housing delivery
  • An inclusive and social working environment.
  • Flexible working opportunities including a flexi-time scheme.
  • Hybrid working
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Regular opportunities for development with internal and external training courses.
  • A great office location next to travel links and the regenerated town centre.
  • Internal sports and social club opportunities.
  • Discounted leisure centre and gym membership.
  • An interest free loan for a rail season ticket.
  • Local Government Pension scheme

What we're looking for...

A resourceful and highly motivated person able to organise their own workload and build working partnerships across the council and with external bodies.

Strong negotiating and problem-solving skills and an ability to communicate effectively.

The ability to collate information, produce reports and analysis, and develop and maintain accurate electronic record-keeping systems.
