Are you an ecologist with a passion for biodiversity and ecosystems services? Are you looking to drive change and make a tangible impact?
Wirral is home to diverse range habitats including woodlands, wetlands, and coastal areas, each offering a unique glimpse into the boroughs vibrant landscape. We are seeking a Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) Coordinator to play a pivotal role in safeguarding and enhancing these natural spaces both now and for future generations.
Through the provisions in the Environment Act 2021, you will be responsible for ensuring the Council delivers mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain, ensuring developments in Wirral contribute to the enhancement and conservation of biodiversity. You will also lead the Council in fulfilling our enhanced duty to protect and safeguard our natural heritage by developing targeted initiatives that respect Wirral's varied habitats, drive the recovery of biodiversity and building partnerships with local communities and environmental groups.
As a qualified ecologist with 3 years of experience in an applied ecological field, you will use your ecological expertise and experience to drive change and ensure we meet the objectives of our Biodiversity & Net Gain Strategy. You will help integrate biodiversity considerations into our daily operations, decision making and actions, promoting a culture that values and supports the health of our local ecosystems.
