We are recruiting an Interim Principal Building Control Surveyor
About the role
The Principal Building Control Surveyor role is an opportunity to deal with major building control projects in Brighton & Hove and develop your management and leadership skills.
The Principal Building Control Surveyor reports directly to the Building Control Manager and will support them in delivering the main priorities of the service; to deliver a high quality, efficient and customer-focused service.
You will have an important role in ensuring buildings are constructed, demolished and maintained into the right standard; that buildings are accessible and meet sustainability standards. As well as being a lead on larger projects, you will ensure there are checks made on dangerous structures; carry out site visits to support surveyors; and update Health and Safety risk assessments.
You will lead and manage a team of less experienced Building Surveyors - managing their performance, supporting them and developing their skills. This will be carried out in line with the city council's adopted values and behaviours.
This is an fixed term role until end of March 2024.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
Work Permits: This role does not meet the requirement for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Successful candidates will need to evidence that they have the Right to Work in the UK.
