About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Ecology Officer to join our Environment team. The post will provide ecology advice to the County Council and other local planning authorities in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove, helping to ensure the protection and enhancement of biodiversity through the planning process.
The role will also assist the County Ecologist in delivering new duties placed on the County Council through the Environment Act, including delivering biodiversity net gain in new developments and assisting with production of a Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
You will need experience of working and advising on the impacts of planning on the natural environment, including experience of securing positive ecological outcomes from development, a good understanding of biodiversity net gain, good communication skills and a passion for protecting and promoting the County’s rich biodiversity.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
