A driven individual is now required to shape important leisure projects, and to lead on the Council’s sports development programme.

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Post

A new opportunity is available to shape and manage the Council’s important sports and leisure programme.

You will lead a portfolio of activities including our sports development programme, our leisure centres, our sports pitches and many other leisure-related services.

Your main task will be to develop the Council’s sports development programme within the Resident Services department, leading on the work with local sports clubs and groups to deliver Brent’s Strategy for Sport and Physical Activity including the wider objectives such as health, regeneration, community safety and lifelong learning.

You will have a key role in delivering on the Council’s plans with respect to front line leisure centre operations, with a key focus on the provision of a new facility at Bridge Park and improved programmes at Vale Farm and Willesden.

You will work in partnership with other council departments, national bodies, the funding sector and other public agencies to maximise the development of a wide range of sport and physical activity opportunities for all Brent’s communities.

The Person

You will have experience and knowledge of the policy framework in this area and be able to demonstrate high professional standards and a strong commitment to creating excellent services.

You will also have a project management background and a track record of leading on a programme of sports development.

This is a great career development opportunity for anyone who has a track record in the sports and leisure field and who wants to shape front-line leisure services that really matter to our residents.
