Your New Role

Revenues & Benefits provide customer and financial services to the residents and business of Portsmouth and is part of the wider Finance and Revenue directorate. 

Within this role you will effectively assist in the processing of general administrative duties relating to the Revenues and Benefits Department which include opening post, emails, scanning and indexing.  You will learn what how to analyse data, how to use information to support facts and determine conclusion and obtain information from others.  In return you will learn a number of things including what revenues and benefits does and its role across Portsmouth, how local government works, how to plan your workload/time management skills and negotiation and persuasion skills including communication in a business environment to all levels of staff.

What you need to succeed

As well as good IT skills we are looking for someone who is flexible, adaptable and be able to work under direction meeting deadlines where required.  As well as good communication skills, you will have good IT skills and numerical and literacy skills. A team player, you will be methodical with a high level of accuracy and an excellent attention to detail.

You will need to bring in your passport and visa or evidence of immigration permission when you enrol so that we assess your eligibility to receive Government funding for the apprenticeship programme.
