The starting salary for this role is £57,868 per annum, based on working 36-hours per week. This is a fixed term/secondment opportunity for 24-months.

Are you a dynamic and results-oriented Programme Manager seeking an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact? Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is on the lookout for a talented Programme Manager to lead our Change Programme for a 2-year fixed term contract.

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is a forward-thinking and community-focused organisation dedicated to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the residents of Surrey. As we continue to evolve and enhance our services, we're seeking a Programme Manager who is passionate about delivering real change.

About the role

As a Programme Manager with us, you will be at the forefront of driving change, overseeing a diverse range of projects varying in size and complexity, all of which contribute to the enhancement of our service. With a focus on effective stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organisation.

You will line manage a team of Project Managers who are responsible for delivering projects aligned to our current priorities of People, Assets and Delivery of Services. Leading and managing the team, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity and professional growth.

You will be responsible for reporting on project progress via monthly Programme Board meetings of which you will chair, discussing benefits and risks directly with members of the Service Leadership Team, facilitating constructive discussions and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. You will also play a key role in the implementation of the recently developed service evaluation framework.

You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure successful project delivery and maximum stakeholder engagement using your exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.

The Programme Manager will report directly to the Head of Change and will also deputise on their behalf when required.

About you

You will need to have strong written and communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and their practical application. You will be confident in using your negotiation and influencing skills. Using a proactive approach, you will look ahead for potential problems and take preventative or mitigating action in advance.

To be considered for interview, your application will clearly evidence the above as well as:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification plus substantial experience at a management level.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners/professionals.
  • Wide experience in successful leading, coaching, mentoring and developing of staff.
  • Good awareness of the politics and business change taking place across the organisations that could impact the programme.
  • Excellent stakeholder skills at all levels and assessment of drivers/needs.

A full clean driving license with use of a vehicle is also needed as the role will require some travel countywide for engagement opportunities at our fire stations
