About the role
Learning Disability Services are seeking a skilled, motivated, enthusiastic, and committed individual to join us as part of the management team in leading our new supported employment service ‘Steps to Work’.
As part of the management team, you will support the Employment Coordinator and Service Manager to develop best practice, leading a team of Job Coaches so that people with learning disabilities and autism can access employment, where they are supported to fulfil their employment aspirations and achieve social and economic inclusion. In addition to the right core values, you will bring experience of leading and supervising staff, along with good communication and organisational skills of yourself and others
As Team Leader, you will lead on Employer Engagement, you will be responsible for managing a designated service area that focusses on job seeking and sourcing long term employment including paid / unpaid work.
The post holder will be involved in developing a range of work (paid and unpaid) and work experience opportunities across East Sussex and within the County Council for people with learning disabilities and autism.
The service will have supported employment targets and you will be instrumental in supporting the service to achieve these.
Networking to create new learning and work placement opportunities for the people we support will also be key to this role, including liaising with the DWP and having knowledge of DWP procedures and benefits.
Within this role you will be responsible for supporting the Employment Coordinator in promoting a culture that is based on respect and dignity. You will bring with you a commitment to providing excellent support, continuous learning, and reflection, along with an ethos of working together in an efficient and creative way as part of your proven track record. You will also be key in supporting the service to maintain high standards within a Supported Employment Quality Assurance Framework.
The role is diverse and rewarding. You will receive excellent training opportunities and support through induction and supervision as part of our commitment to you. This role is managing a county wide service and will involve frequent travelling around East Sussex and at short notice. Being a car driver and having access to a vehicle for work is essential to this role. Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
