Health Protection Manager
We are looking for a Health Protection Manager to take a lead role in North Somerset Council’s work to assure local health protection systems and manage the risk from infectious diseases as well as environmental, chemical and radiological threats.
The successful candidate will be working closely with the Public Health Consultant lead for health protection. Duties will include ensuring the smooth running of the Health Protection Assurance Group, scrutinising performance of relevant local services, producing an annual Health Protection Report, logging notifications of local health protection incidents and leading any follow up required within the Public Health Team. You will also participate in the council-wide Duty Emergency Management Officer rota (for which full training will be provided and an additional salary paid).
The role is within the Public Health and Regulatory Services directorate. This provides an excellent opportunity for joint working between the Health Protection Manager, Environmental Health Officers and Emergency Planners. Building on excellent relationships that have grown through the COVID-19 response, you will also be working with various other internal teams as well as local and regional stakeholders and government agencies to respond to the challenges that arise in health protection.
The role will be flexible; predominantly working from home with the need for occasional face-to-face meetings and site visits around North Somerset.
This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
