About the role 

This newly created role offers the opportunity to work as part of the pensions team at the LGA. The pension team works with and on behalf of administering authorities of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) in England and Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. As part of the team, you will play an important role in the legislative and administrative framework of the largest funded pension scheme in the UK.

We are looking for a high performing individual to lead on a project to deliver an LGPS specific qualification. You will write course material and assessments, organise and deliver tutorials and liaise with the qualification provider and students.

You will also develop, co-ordinate and deliver high quality training to pension administrators, scheme employers, councillors and local pension board members. 

We encourage flexible working at the LGA. This post is offered as a home or office based (Westminster) contract. The salary for a home based worker ranges from £45,495 to £51,832 a year. The salary for an office based worker includes London Weighting and ranges from £49,425 to £55,762. 

About you ​​​​​​​

You will have a good working knowledge of the LGPS and be comfortable in interpreting and explaining complex legislation. Experience of delivering training using a variety of formats, ideally in a pension setting, is essential.

You will also have excellent IT skills and a proven track record of organising and planning events. You will be able to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision using your own initiative.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is willing to challenge the status quo.

The job will involve attending events and other meetings across the UK and outside normal office hours. A flexible attitude to working hours and working away from the office and/or home is essential.
