About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join Ocklynge Local Governing Committee. As a Governor, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experience of our students, working collaboratively with the school leadership and the wider Multi Academy Trust (MAT) community to ensure the delivery of high-quality education.



  1. Strategic Vision: Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's vision, values, and strategic goals. Work with the Headteacher and other governors to shape the direction of the school, promoting educational excellence and the best interests of the students.
  2. School Improvement: Monitor and evaluate the performance of the school, reviewing data, and progress reports to ensure continuous improvement. Collaborate with the school leadership team to identify areas for development and support the implementation of effective strategies to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a link between the school and the wider community, fostering positive relationships with parents, staff, students, and external partners. Attend relevant meetings and events, representing the school and promoting effective communication and engagement with stakeholders.




  • A genuine interest in education and a commitment to the success and well-being of students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, while also demonstrating independent thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess information and contribute to strategic decision-making.
  • A willingness to learn and stay informed about educational policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Availability to attend governor meetings, which are typically held in the evenings.
  • No prior experience as a governor is necessary, although it would be beneficial.
