Job introduction

About the role

Are you passionate about working with young people?
Do you strive to make a difference?

We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking individuals who would like to make a difference to young people’s lives to join our ever-developing Youth Work Team across East Sussex

We are currently recruiting people who have transferable skills in working with young people in the Lewes, Wealden, Hastings and Eastbourne areas for our centre-based youth groups and our detached teams.

You will need to have a flexible approach in engaging young people and children in formal and informal settings; be empathetic, patient and understanding, and be passionate about working with young people to improve their engagement, enthusiasm, and well-being.

We support young people to engage in activities that promote emotional and physical wellbeing, as well as building important life and social skills, for example cooking, team building, social skills, supporting aspirations and career pathways.

As a Youth Worker you will work with young people aged 11-18 (up to 25 SEN) who may be experiencing an array of issues and help deliver a programme with other youth workers to meet their needs.

We engage young people mostly in group settings and can sign post into other agencies so that young people can make the most of other opportunities and develop their potential.

We promote their personal and social development, ensure that their voice is heard, and engage young people in activities and projects across the area.

You will need to be able to work flexibly, which will involve evenings.

In return we offer you:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement.
  • Generous local government pension scheme package.
  • Access to wider training and development qualifications.
  • A great team to work with.
  • An opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young people.
