24 Months Fixed Term Contract until September 2025

ABOUT US

Newham Youth Justice Service aims to put children and families at the centre of our work in preventing offending, the risk of offending and the risk of re-offending.  We do this through our systemic engagement with children and families whilst adopting child first and whole family approaches.  To support us we are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and dynamic Turnaround Specialist Practitioner to ensure that we keep children, families and the community at the heart of everything we do here in Newham.

ABOUT THE JOB

Are you passionate about working with children and families? Do you want to be part of an exciting opportunity which aims to support children in the community and in their homes to make a difference in their lives whilst demonstrating ambition for them to achieve positive outcomes? Then this job is for you.  At the heart of working in Newham is honesty and transparency in our approach ensuring that we are respectful and that we demonstrate the embedding of our core values of working together to support children and families to take their next steps on their journeys.

The Turnaround Project is a government initiative which provides Youth Justice Services across England and Wales with funding to intervene early and improve outcomes for children on the cusp of entering the Youth Justice System.  The Turnaround Project sits within the Youth Justice Service as part of our multi-disciplinary RESET intervention team.  This post will enable the skilled practitioner to work directly with children and families in a planned, purposeful and focused manner using systemic and restorative methods to engage children to support them to achieve their best outcomes.

ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant will understand the principles of the child-first approach and will be able to work systemically to deliver intensive, time-limited support to children, young people and families who are subject to a statutory plan; and who are at risk of child criminal exploitation, extra-familial harm and who are at risk of re-offending.  The Turnaround Project will adopt a whole family approach to enable families to participate in decision-making and planning with them to keep their children safe within the community.
