Head of Service - Child Protection & LADO
Recognised by Ofsted as being a ‘Good’ provider of children’s social care, there has never been a more exciting time to join Birmingham Children’s Trust on its development journey.
We are seeking to appoint to our permanent Head of Service for the Child Protection and LADO Service. You will have overall responsibility for the quality and performance of the service as well as contributing strategically and operationally to multi-agency working in respect of child protection and safeguarding.
You will have direct line management of two Assistant Heads of Service who line manage a team of Principal Officers who chair Child Protection Conferences in respect of children and young people at risk of suffering significant harm. You will directly line manage a small group of Principal Officers are designated officers in respect of managing concerns and allegations in respect of people in positions of trust. You will be part of a stable and experienced management team that includes the Independent Reviewing Officers, domestic abuse and interpersonal violence, neglect and the business unit for Birmingham Safeguarding Children Partnership.
As Head of Service, you will work with your peers within the Trust and designated safeguarding leads across a range of partner agencies to ensure we have effective child protection responses in place. You will lead our development work to strengthen the participation of children, young people and families within Child Protection Conferences and our continued modernisation of our processes aimed at promoting a strengths and relationship-based approach underpinned by the Trust’s ‘Connections Count’ Practice Model.
