About the role
In September 2022 The Southfield Trust opened Summerdown School, a new, purpose built Special Free School. This school has increased the excellent range of provision across the Southfield Trust. Increased provision has created exciting opportunities across our special school multi-academy trust. The Trust has four schools, located across six, distinct school sites. All of our schools are based in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
We are recruiting a number of teaching assistants to support pupils ranging from Early Years to Secondary.
Teaching assistants undertake learning support duties and assist the class teacher in meeting the day to day needs of the pupils. Teaching assistants may have the opportunity to work in any one of our four schools across Eastbourne. Teaching assistants support the class teacher with the delivery of the curriculum and respond to the pupils’ needs enabling them to make good progress in their learning. The pupils in our schools may have speech and language needs, autism and / or complex learning disabilities; some will have profound medical needs.
You will work alongside a friendly and supportive team who have a wealth of expertise and are committed to the continuing professional development of all staff. The Trust offers a strong programme of in school training and a range of career development opportunities.
A permanent position is offered subject to a successful probationary year.
The paid hours of work are 30 per week (6 hours each day) - Monday to Friday
This is a term time only post which is paid for 45.05 weeks per year.
As this post is part time / term time only the salary will be pro rata of the full-time figure (£20,812) and is £14,619 per year.
