Childrens Information & Advice Officer
Job Duties: The East Herts Team is one of 11 Assessment teams, covering the Housing Borough of East Herts. Our team consists of 4 social workers, one Consultant Social Worker, Team Manager a Childrens Practitioner and a part time Childrens Information and Advice Officer. The work of the Assessment team is to ensure the appropriate response is given to referrals received from partner agencies, professionals, and the public. The work is underpinned by the principle of improving outcomes for children and young people through:
- effective screening and support, to ensure that families receive the ‘Right Response’ from the appropriate agency at the lowest levels of need without unnecessary delay.
- strengthening screening and referral processes and ensure a more timely and proportionate response.
- to ensure that all contacts get feedback and are supported in appropriately addressing the needs of children and young people.
- To gather information for multi-agency meetings
- Progress contacts and seek management oversight
As a CAIO you will be required to manage your work loads. This is a mixture of both complex and non-complex cases in which there are stringent timescales. This requires you to use your own initiative and prioritise tasks on a day-to-day basis. As a CAIO you will speak to families and professionals offering advice and signposting to services to ensure the needs of everyone are being met and that families are kept safe.
You will be required to work within the safeguarding regulations, ensuring you work within statutory timescales to protect children. You will be responsible for gathering information and making sure case files are up to date. This can often include minuting important meetings, updating demographics, chronologies, and case summaries on case files.
You will support social workers to gather information for multi-information sharing meetings. management skills including supervisions, case directions and strategy discussions.
This role requires the applicant require an enhanced DBS and full drivers’ licence with access to a car.
