Much of the Ribble Valley is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The borough is made up of picturesque towns and villages and scenic countryside; it is also known as the food capital of the north.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated graduate to work as a trainee Environmental Health Officer with the view to progressing to be a qualified and CIEH registered Environmental Health Officer.

You will work primarily in the food / health and safety team, but you will also be given the opportunity to work in other areas such as pollution and housing. 

You will be dealing with retail and commercial premises, covering business advice, food hygiene inspections, infectious disease control, investigation of food complaints, animal licencing and health and safety inspections/investigations. 

Ideally, candidates will possess a BSc(Hons) or a Masters in Environmental Health. However, the Council will consider applications from persons who are due to complete their professional qualification in the academic year 2022/2023.  Please note that passing this qualification by September 2023 is a condition of your ongoing employment.

Good IT skills, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle, as well as a flexible approach to working hours are also essential.
