This is an exciting opportunity to join a brand-new special school, part of the Unity Schools Partnership multi-academy trust, which opens in September 2023. You will have the chance to join the founding team of the school, contributing to shaping provision to transform the lives of generations of children: you will make the difference and be the difference.

The Compass School is being set up to educate young people between the ages of 8-16 who have a wide range of social, emotional and mental health needs. Many of the pupils may also be on the Autistic Spectrum. The school serves a catchment area that covers Havering and its neighbouring boroughs.

 

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, conscientious team-player to assist with the school’s site and make sure our state of the art building and grounds are maintained and enhanced to meet the needs of our community.

You will work in collaboration with site colleagues at St Edward’s Academy to provide a comprehensive service to ensure the school site operates efficiently, safely and showcases our values – Success, Teamwork, Aspiration and Resilence.

You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team as an important member of the founding team of the school.

 

The school is part of a collaborative, forward thinking Academy Trust of 32 schools. The school will also be adding to our network of special schools, alongside Sir Peter Hall School, Bury St Edmunds, Sir Bobby Robson School, Ipswich, The Bridge School, Ipswich and Churchill Special School, Haverhill.

You will be supported in your role by experienced special education leaders who will be available to offer and advice and guidance as the school moves forward.
Significant training and development are available through opportunities for professional development, research, teacher training and collaboration between schools and across phases.
