Corporate Category Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within a busy team delivering procurement and commissioning services at West Berkshire Council.
We are looking for a Corporate Category Manager, reporting to the Service Manager, Commissioning & Procurement – Place and Resources.
You will have at least two years’ procurement experience gained within a public sector environment and a good working knowledge of Public Contract Regulations 2015.
This is a key role which is integral to the interface between the procurement team and the rest of the organisation and provides a great opportunity to build on your experience and advance your procurement career across an interesting and varied position.
Responsible for category management of IT, Communications, Engineering, Transport and other corporate contracts, you will be responsible for the end to end commissioning cycle and will be capable of managing multiple category projects at any given time.
In addition to category management, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing reports and analysing data for senior managers and the Council’s decision making boards.
The successful candidate will advise senior managers and service areas on the procurement process in line with the Council’s Contract Rules of Procedure and Public Contracts Regulations 2015 to achieve value for money and cashable savings from procurement activity.
You will be process-focussed, have the ability to accurately assess and interpret statistical data and be able to communicate with a range of people, both verbally and in writing.
This role offers a hybrid working style, with 40% of time spent within the office in Newbury and the remainder of time working from home – in line with current Council policy and once induction period has been completed.
