Social Worker Fostering (Connected Carers)
A vacancy has arisen for a social worker to join the Connected Carers Team. This is an exciting time to join the team and we are seeking a child focused social worker to join us in our improvement journey.
Do you have the skills and experience to further develop this relatively new service to deliver good quality support to Special Guardians?
This role will work with all connected carers but with an emphasis on developing our support services to Special Guardians.
A large proportion of the work within the team is undertaking Court directed assessments of friends and families when alternative care plans are being considered for children. This is an exciting yet challenging and complex area of social work.

In addition to the basic salary, we are proud to offer an excellent benefits package including –
- A basic salary of £34,898 - £38,055 (Social Worker) or £38,056 - £41,567 (Experienced Social Worker).
- An annual market allowance of £3,000 per annum. Payable in monthly payments.
- A retention payment of £2,000 (Social Worker) or £3,000 (Experienced Social Worker). This is a fixed sum payable in April each year, following two years’ service in Medway.
- Generous annual leave entitlement of between 27 - 30 days plus bank holidays
- Excellent local government pension scheme
- Essential Car user allowance with option to apply for a lease car after six months.
- Free car parking
- Hybrid working - enabling you to work from home/office (minimum of 2 days per week will be required in the office)
- Relocation package of up to £8,000
About You
- You will hold a degree in Social Work – CQSW, DipSW or equivalent and be registered with Social Work England.
- You will have successfully completed your ASYE and have a minimum of 1 years’ practice as a social worker or 2 years’ practice as an experienced social worker, working with children and families.
- You will have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
