About the role

As part of a pioneer workforce initiative across social care and health in Surrey, we have developed a project to create an accreditation framework and accredited learning centre for the Care Certificate. As someone who already knows about the incredible work done by our social care workforce, you may already be familiar with the Care Certificate. In case you're not, the Care Certificate was developed by Skills for Care and Health Education England. It is an agreed set of standards that define the knowledge, skills and behaviours expected of specific job roles in the health and social care sectors. It is made up of the 15 minimum standards that should be covered if you are 'new to care' and should form part of a robust induction programme. However, the Care Certificate has never been accredited which means even people experienced in the care sector have to complete it every time they move between employers. It also means that there is no independent, consistent assessment of the learning and knowledge of care workers. We think that their professionalism and skills deserve to be recognised and accredited.

In your application, we would love to hear about:

We are looking for someone who is as passionate about the work delivered by our social care workforce, as they are about learning and development. Could that be you?

As someone who is passionate about learning and developing people, you will have a strong track record of delivering, assessing and verifying accredited learning as well as experience of working closely with external awarding bodies. You will also be someone who is passionate about inclusion in learning. You will require many ideas of strategies you could implement to overcome barriers to participation for adult learners, whatever their background and experience.

At Surrey we work together openly and honestly to provide our residents with an excellent service that is inclusive and respectful of all. We offer a wide range of benefits that allow you to develop within your career without having to sacrifice your work/life balance.
