Rethink your career and help reshape our libraries.
Today’s public library is more than a collection of books. It’s a hub for community activities, a place to access digital technology, and a gateway to reading, information and wellbeing.
We’re looking for a Facilities Support Officer based at our Central Stocks Unit to help us ensure our stock, furniture and equipment get to where they need to be. You’ll manage a team of 5 Library Support Drivers and 6 vehicles. You’ll also work in partnership with other Hertfordshire County Council departments and external service providers to monitor quality standards for repairs, maintenance, health & safety in libraries and at our Central Stocks Unit.
Working times will be office hours Monday to Friday, though occasional working outside office hours may be required. There will be the option of working from home 1 day a week. The ability to make site visits to libraries, sometimes at short notice, is also required.
It’s a hugely varied role that could see you planning delivery routes, having development meetings with drivers, visiting a library to support with an upcoming health & safety audit, or gathering information for the rollout of a new service.
We look for people who are great communicators and who are enthusiastic about taking on a wide range of different projects and tasks. You’ll be well-organised and responsible, with good IT skills. If you have a background in facilities management or people management, so much the better.
This role plays a key part in making a difference to the residents of Hertfordshire; Every day we provide services to libraries across Hertfordshire that ensure people can access and enjoy stock, services, and events to enrich their lives.
