Content Designers
About Barnet Council:
Barnet is a borough with much to be proud of. Our excellent schools, vibrant town centres, vast green spaces, and diverse communities all help make it a wonderful place to live and work. As a council we want to build on these strengths as we move into the future. We are growing and developing as an organisation to meet the challenges facing our borough and we are committed to working with partner organisations and residents to make Barnet even better. As an organisation, our staff are committed to Our Values: Caring, Learning to Improve, Inclusive, Collaborate.
About Directorate:
The Resident Experience and Digital service is reshaping the way our residents access our services and influencing how our service is designed so they are accessible and inclusive to all. Through Barnet’s Resident Experience & Digital Strategy we are delivering a programme of work to re-think access to Council services, to prioritise support for those residents who are more vulnerable or have more complex or sensitive needs. Residents have a more joined up view of the Council and a better overall experience. We are delivering this through implementing new technology, re-designing processes and informing a culture change that is resident centric across all teams.
About The Role:
We are looking for x2 Content Designers to join our Website & Digital Content Design Team at Barnet Council.
The role is hybrid - working from our office in Colindale, London and remote working - currently in the office 2 days a week.
We’re making Barnet’s digital services and information simpler, clearer and faster for our residents and businesses. To do this we need people who can write high-quality, user-focused, accessible content, and who understand the web, technology, and people.
Our Content Design roles are not graphic or marketing content design jobs - although we do work closely with our colleagues in these areas. Our roles are about the content found within the design and for us this is mostly, but not exclusively, about words and interactions within content.
Key projects include the redesign of our ‘digital front door’. This work is about improving existing or designing new access to services within Housing, Council Tax, Revenues & Benefits and Adult Social Care. We also have a focus on residents facing financial vulnerability. The migration of microsites back into Barnet’s main website is also a priority area of work.
You’ll work in multidisciplinary teams that have a common goal to improve and enable the council to achieve an end to end joined-up experience that meets the needs of our residents across a varied array of systems and services.
If you're a skilled content designer, and you are committed to opening up and transforming digital information and services through user centred and accessible design - then we'd love to hear from you.
