About Castle Point:

We are serious at Castle Point about creating places where people are proud to live, and which are successful. We are therefore embarking on a programme of work that puts place-making at the heart of what we do. This means that the preparation of a local plan (the Castle Point Plan) and economic development are key priorities for the Council.

However, we don’t want to undertake this work in isolation. We want to work with the community through broad and effective engagement to shape our plans for the borough, and for partners to have a key say in how places grow and change so that everything that affects the quality of places and outcomes for local people is addressed.

We already have strong partnership arrangements with key partners and through our regeneration partnership in place and will be looking to strengthen those partnership arrangements as we move forward. As part of our approach, we are already working closely with Essex County Council and other partners to identify opportunities to deliver Levelling Up within the Borough through town centre, community and cultural regeneration.

We are also a key and active partner in the Association of South Essex Local Authorities, which have programme around joint working on skills and economic development, green infrastructure, transport infrastructure and housing. We want to ensure that these programmes benefit the residents and businesses of Castle Point.

To achieve our ambitions for place-making, engagement and partnership working we are creating a strong multi-disciplinary team of individuals who will each have a key role to play in preparing and delivering the Castle Point Plan and associated policies and projects including proposals for Levelling Up.

If you share our ambitions and would like to join our team, there is a role for you.

About The Role:

We are seeking an inquisitive, outward looking individual who will play a critical role in ensuring that the work of the Council on place making and Levelling Up is informed by up-to-date data and research on the local area and the people that live here.

Within this role you will be responsible for the collating and managing the information used to make decisions and will be required to undertake data analysis and research to help inform decision making for the Castle Point Plan and other areas of Council policy.

A key element of this role will be working with partners to gather data and information and understand how it can be used to inform decisions at a local level. Another core element of the role will be using digital tools and graphics to ensure that residents and other stakeholders can effectively understand the data and information we are using to make decisions, and the policies emerging from those decisions.

To be successful in this role you will have data analysis and research skills and have experience of presenting the outcomes of data analysis and research to different audiences. Ideally, you will also have experience of using GIS and graphics software, however we are open to training someone in these areas where they can demonstrate the ability to pick up new IT software quickly and with ease.

If you are interested in having an informal chat about this role please contact Amanda Parrott, Planning Policy Manager on 01268 882432 or Ian Butt, Head of Place and Policy on 01268 882310.

CV’s alone will not be accepted.

Closing date for applications is TBC
