Following an internal move, we are now recruiting to the post of Starting Well Officer within our Housing team. In this role, you will provide pre-tenancy and ongoing tenancy sustainment services to applicants requiring additional support to be tenancy ready and to tenants at risk of tenancy failure.

We can offer a competitive salary, enrolment in the local government pension scheme, a generous annual leave entitlement that increases with service, free car parking**, a whole host of family-friendly benefits, flexi-time, hybrid working, 1 days’ paid volunteering leave, a health cashback plan, access to an employee benefits platform and £10/month membership at one of our four gyms in the district.

Your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Providing support and advice to new and transferring tenants to enable them to establish and sustain their tenancy
  • Being the main point of contact for the Ready to Move process
  • Supporting tenants to access advice and support from external agencies, building effective relationships with those agencies
  • Working closely with colleagues across the Council to ensure tenants receive appropriate support

  • Ensuring you maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and good practice

We are looking for candidates with demonstrable experience of working in social housing, particularly in tenancy management, with excellent knowledge of current social housing issues and legislation and of up-to-date knowledge of the social housing and benefits system. The successful candidate will also have the ability to work well with partner agencies, will be an effective communicator able to use tact and diplomacy when handling sensitive matters, will be highly organised and will have a focus on putting the tenant at the heart of all that they do.
