Degree Apprentice - Automation
Two exciting opportunities are now available to combine working and learning in our newly formed Innovation team and undertake a degree in Digital Technology Solutions (Software Engineering). As part of this role, you will be primarily working within our Automation team, which specialises in Intelligent Automation, Robotic Process Automation and Artificial Intelligence. The Automation team is at the beginning of an exciting and evolving journey, working with technologies, such as Microsoft Power Automate, Power Automate Desktop and AI Builder. As part of the Automation team, you will use low-code technologies to automate numerous processes within the organisation, as well as help improve the experience for Barnsley Council’s customers.
The Automation team is a friendly and enthusiastic team. We’ll be learning new skills together, trying new solutions, making mistakes together and supporting each other to correct them.
As part of this role, you will also complete a degree in Digital Technology Solutions (Software Engineering). The completion of the degree will involve blocks of time at university, where you will enjoy student life, sharing skills and experiences with other students on the same and related courses. The team and organisation will support you to achieve your qualification, providing opportunities to gain the experience you need and put into practice what you learn.
This is a fantastic three-year opportunity, in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University, to gain both experience and a qualification, as well as enjoying working with the latest technology and a passionate and motivated team.

To be eligible for this apprenticeship you must meet the following entry qualification criteria:
- 4 GCSEs at grades 4-9 (A-C or above) including Maths and English
- 112 UCAS points or are currently studying towards A Levels or a Level 3 qualification which equates to 112 UCAS points and are due to complete your studies by August 2023. Please check your UCAS points here; https://www.ucas.com/ucas/tariff-calculator
- Willingness to undertake a three-year Degree Apprenticeship programme addressing multiple aspects of Information Technology.

We operate a 37-hour working week on a flexi-time scheme (7am and 7pm) and coordinate with one another to maintain a level of service cover between the hours of 9am - 5pm Mon – Thurs and 9am - 4.30pm on Fridays.
