Driving forward innovative and dynamic solutions across our Planning, Regeneration & Public Realm service, we're recruiting for a Building Control Manager to take the lead of all the Council's statutory building control responsibilities.
What does a Building Control Manager do at Hillingdon?
Leading the management of the Building Control Team, the role ensures agreed team plans and performance targets are delivered, whilst embedding a culture of continuous service improvement with a 'residents first' approach.
Delivering risk based operational strategy, the Building Control Manager ensures the Building Control service meets the demands of the Building Safety Regulator and Building Safety Act 2022. This includes taking ownership for the allocation, review, and progressing the team's workload.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Act as the Senior Responsible Officer for the discharge of the Council's statutory Building Control functions
- Ensure Building Regulation applications are processes within statutory time periods
- Prepare, manage, and develop the Building Control Service to meet the demands of the Building Safety Regulator
- Prosecute 'contraventions as required, serving notice where necessary
- Drive the increase in the Council's market share of Building Control applications
About you
With an extensive background of managing a team of Building Control Officers as well as a dangerous structures function, you'll have experience of undertaking complex structural engineering, and fire engineering strategies, focused on the safety of residents and businesses.
You'll be able to evidence your expertise in budget management and promotion of services, identifying opportunities to expand on current revenue streams. Utilising your communication and influencing skills to work in collaboration with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, managing and allocating case work within a timely manner.
Key skills/ experience to evidence within your application:
- Experience of representing the Council at an inquiry or court proceedings
- Extensive knowledge of the Building Control Regulations and Legislations
- Examples of identifying and implementing solutions to both technical and management issues
