£24,496 - £26,845 (Fixed Term for 3 years for the Graduate Planning Officer role) / £28,371- £32,020 (plus an additional market supplement of £2,936 that is currently available for the Planning Officer role)

An opportunity has arisen within our friendly and proactive Development Management Section for a Graduate Planning Officer/Planning Officer. Located in the county of Warwickshire, Rugby is a borough of over 100,000 population and is one of the fastest growing boroughs in the country, which is expected to grow by 30% by 2035.
Depending on your knowledge and experience your main responsibilities will be the processing of a range of planning applications and associated consents, including providing pre-application advice on proposed applications, assessing, preparing and presenting reports on planning applications and representing the Council in any appeals. As a pro-growth authority there is plenty of opportunities to get involved with housing, retail and employment developments.
Explaining every step of the planning process to our customers is vital to our success, and your achievements will be based not only on your ability to do your job but also on putting customer service at the heart of everything you do.
You will need to have a relevant degree, knowledge of the current planning legislation and possess excellent communication and advisory skills. For the Planning Officer role, a professional qualification (or be close to achieving such a qualification) or appropriate experience would also be expected.
A driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use is essential.
