Job introduction

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager in the Learning Disability Commissioning Team here in East Sussex. This is being offered as a permanent post, and if you are passionate about people with a learning disability receiving high quality, inclusive support, then this could be the role for you!

Working alongside the Strategic Commissioning Manager on a range of commissioning and reconfiguration activities, the post will support the delivery of responsive services to meet the needs of adults with a learning disability in East Sussex. The post will play a key role in engaging with stakeholders particularly independent care sector providers, self- advocates and carers, colleagues in ASC and other agencies including the NHS, to develop strategies and manage projects aligned to service needs. The post holder will also engage with people who use services or have lived experience to shape key areas of development.

You will have strong organisational and communication skills, have a proven track record of delivering projects on time and budget, and have a passion for improving the quality and range of social care services available for adults with a learning disability.  You will also need to demonstrate a sound knowledge of key legislation and policy relating to people with a learning disability and/or autism.

The Project Manager post is varied and rewarding, and you will be part of a small but dynamic team who are passionate about improving the outcomes for people with a learning disability. We will provide a high level of support, supervision, and targeted training to further promote your development.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone committed to the values of inclusion and involvement central to the Learning Disability Commissioning team, and who is seeking to gain or enhance their skills and experience within the Social Care commissioning sector.

Previous experience of supporting people with a learning disability is desirable. The ability to pick up new information and ways of working quickly, and to be highly motivated will all be important to be successful in this role.

You will also need to be a good communicator, understand the diverse needs of people with a learning disability and recognise how effective care and support services can enrich and improve the lives and outcomes for individuals.

Our flexible working arrangements allow for a mix of being home and office based. You will be provided with a range of equipment to support home working and the days in the office will primarily be at County Hall, Lewes. You may also be required to attend meetings in other locations if these can’t be carried out virtually.

If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, look no further and we look forward to receiving your application.

Interviews will take place via Microsoft Teams unless you request an in-person interview. Interviews will be taking place in the second week of June. If you are unavailable on the proposed dates let us know and we may be able to schedule an alternative date to interview you.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity contact Matt Holmes, Strategic Commissioning Manager (LD) at matt.holmes@eastsussex.gov.uk to request a MS teams call or phone call.

We offer a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment. More information can be found on our benefits page.
