About the role
We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join our ever-developing youth team across East Sussex.
We are currently recruiting in the Hastings & Rother area for new recruits to join our centre- based youth groups and our detached teams.
As a Leader in Charge, you will plan develop and deliver group work session to the needs of the young people of the local area, additionally you will guide and supervise a small team.
You will need to have a flexible approach in engaging young people and children in formal and informal learning. Be empathetic, patient and understanding and be passionate about empowering young people to improve engagement and enthusiasm towards learning by using innovative strategies.
You will support young people to engage in activities that promote emotional and physical wellbeing, as well as building important life and social skills, for example cooking, team building, social skills, supporting aspirations and career pathways, etc.

As a Youth Worker you will work with young people aged 11-19 who are open to Children’s Services or Voluntary support. Young people may be experiencing an array of difficulties such as criminal or sexual exploitation, gang affiliation, substance use and suffering with mental health difficulties etc. Intervention will predominately be with the young person, rather than the whole family.
You will work with and support young people around any difficulties that may be presenting, for example managing emotions, self-esteem, socialising with others, online safety, healthy relationships, life skills and supporting young people to access education, training or employment. Typically, you will support young people for up to 3 months. However, this depends very much on the individual needs of that young person.
The role delivers a mixture of 1-1 and group-based work that promotes personal and social development, challenge, enjoyment and results in recorded informal and accredited learning. It supports young people to engage in youth work activities centres and projects across the area.
You will be required to work flexibly, which may involve evenings.

Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
Due to the restrictions we cannot guarantee that individuals that meet the requirements of the Points-based Immigration System will be issued with clearance to obtain work permits.
