We are looking for a Carbon Neutral Project Officer to support the deliver our ambitious, dynamic Carbon Neutral Action Plan which is designed to improve outcomes for residents and make their local area more sustainable. About You
You will support the Carbon Neutral Programme Manager and council-wide service teams in the delivery of London Borough of Croydon’s work on climate change mitigation and adaptation, with a key focus on Croydon’s Carbon Neutral Action Plan. The role will require work across the organisation and with external partners to achieve rapid and measurable progress towards carbon neutrality across the Borough by 2030.
We are looking for an established professional with knowledge and/or experience in a relevant environmental specialism or a relevant subject such as project management and community engagement.
You will have an excellent understanding of sustainability issues, climate change and carbon reduction, delivering projects and programmes effectively and efficiently and communicating and engaging with a wide range of audiences. You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the community needs and challenges working in diverse urban areas, and you will have the ability to learn quickly, think on your feet, and grasp complex concepts.
With experience of supplier and contract management, you will be capable of establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, colleagues, and organisations across all levels of the Council and beyond. On a personal level, you will be able to work under pressure and autonomously, using your own initiative to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
You will have the opportunity to lead the delivery of specific actions and work packages, managing timelines, milestones, risks & issues. You will work with different teams across the council, providing support to help them achieve their specific climate objectives.
You will engage with both internal and external stakeholders, helping to increase awareness of the climate emergency programme. You will work with council staff considering what actions they building to their day to day and connect with Westminster’s communities to help encourage collaborative action.
You will contribute towards strategic programme decisions and provide insight to assist with decision making and have the opportunity to further develop your skills and build knowledge in key programme areas.
