It’s a really exciting time to join the statutory SEND team in Hertfordshire.
We’re looking for professionals with experience of working in education, health or care who can work alongside services and schools to accurately summarise the needs of children and young people and ensure they receive the right provision.
The SEND service coordinates assessments, reviews and provision for children and young people in Hertfordshire who have special educational needs and / or disabilities. The team focuses on coordinating professionals across education, health and care and coproducing plans and provision with families.
Job Duties
You will support families and schools to understand statutory processes for SEND and our local offer of support in Hertfordshire. This will include attending meetings to discuss needs and provision; writing or amending EHC plans with a focus on ensuring progress and outcomes; and managing placement or provision requests that come in from schools and parents.
You will be educated to A level or equivalent as a minimum, with a knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and the Children and Families Act 2014. You will have excellent communication skills, a high level of literacy to support good case recording and quality EHC plans. You’ll also benefit from experience of working with schools to deliver SEND provision, or experience of coproduction with parents. You’ll be committed to developing relationships with parents, and professionals across education, health and care as this is a key element of the role.
You must also hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work.
This is a challenging but rewarding role, bringing together professionals and families to ensure that statutory obligations are met whilst keeping the child at the centre. It requires resilience, a drive for ambitious outcomes for children, and the ability to champion local solutions. In return, you’ll have opportunities to work with a passionate team, access to continuous learning and development, and progression opportunities.
