Do you want to make a difference in the community? The opportunity exists to join our friendly team as a supervisor supporting frontline staff to deliver a quality service, creating a positive impact on residents and the community.
You will assist the Library Manager by supervising and motivating a large team at Welwyn Garden City library, who also support community libraries and our countywide Information service
The library is more than just a collection of books. It is a hub for community activities, a place to access digital technology and a gateway to reading information and wellbeing. This is a hugely varied role, where you could find yourself organising or delivering a wide variety of exciting events and services. These can range from Baby Rhyme Time, Lego club for children and social groups for adults to directing older customers to wellbeing resources, as well as organising activities with local partners, and so much more.
This is a very exciting time to join Welwyn Garden City library as we evolve our technology offer with the recent opening of our new CreatorSpace. This presents the opportunity to design and deliver ways of supporting library customers to use the latest technology offers for business, education, or leisure by offering a range of activities to both children and adults. You will also take a lead in delivering children’s activities to children of all ages
Library experience is not essential for this role. More importantly, we want our staff to be inspiring, imaginative, and outgoing, with a passion for access to learning and to come from all walks of life.
We are looking for someone who is a great communicator, and enthusiastic about taking on a wide range of projects and initiatives. You should be pro-active, well organised, and responsible. This role could be the first step in a long-term career in libraries management, with an excellent opportunity to develop your supervisory, customer care and outreach skills in a customer facing community role
Does this sound like a role that would appeal to you? Making a difference to the lives of adults and children in our community by inspiring the team to deliver excellent customer service and a wide range of events and activities
