Birmingham Children’s Trust is going from strength to strength. We are the largest provider of family support and social care services for children, young people and families in the country. Our goal is to become a center of excellence in both social care and family support.
We have an excellent residential provision that offers long term and short breaks to disabled children and their families. As part of Birmingham Childrens Trust the residential service benefit from then partnerships across the trust and work with Social Care Services Education and Health to provide wholistic services and the best package of care to children.
All the residential provisions are Ofsted registered and operate within the legal framework of The Childrens Homes Regulations 2015 and The Quality Standards. The roles are subject to satisfactory DBS check, references and a 6 month probationary period. The homes are managed by a Home Manager who is registered with Ofsted and are overseen by the Responsible Individual.
We are looking for a dynamic enthusiastic people who can engage with disabled children and are passionate about getting the best outcomes for children and their families. The Residential provision is a 24hr service, applicants for these roles will be expected to work shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
The role
For this role we are looking for someone who has at least 2 years’ experience of working with children including experience of working with disabled children. You will need to hold the QCF level 3 or equivalent or be willing to undertake the qualification within 6 months of starting the role. You will be responsible for key working and ensuring good relationships with children and their families as well as working with a wide range of professionals. You will be expected to undertake a range of training, including training in communication with non- verbal children and some health care training. We have specialist nurse trainers who will enable you to be competent in this area. You will also be expected to undertake a high level of personal care.
You will need to have good organisational skills work as part of a team and be able to plan and engage in a wide range of sport play and leisure activities with children.
The Trust pay an enhanced night allowance of time and a third for hours worked between 8pm and 6am.
