The Social Services directorate requires Residential Service Officers to assist in the delivery of assessed care to individuals by organising and participating in programmes designed for the purpose of maximising individual potential and fulfilment.

As a Residential Service Officer you will assist service users with aspects of their daily living and develop independent living skills while taking into account their physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing. You will also develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, service users, families and other professionals, receive, give and record accurate information for the individualised delivery of personal care services while ensuring that work is carried out to the agreed National Minimum Standards to comply with Care Standards Regulations.

Essential for the position is an NVQ level 3 in Care and experience of working with individuals with a learning disability. If not done so previously, you must also be willing to undertake the transport MiDAS training in order to be able to drive Adapted small Minibus.                                                    

Knowledge and skills required for this position include, but are not limited to;

  • an understanding of the principles that underpin a quality care environment,
  • the ability to promote the rights, dignity and choices of Service Users,
  • the ability to carry out practical tasks and give support to Service Users when assisting with their personal needs,
  • the ability to write, implement, monitor & review the service users individual support plans/care plans
  • knowledge of POVA

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
