Castleway Primary School & Castleway Nursery School
Part of The Unity Federation

Assistant Headteacher - Nursery School & Early Years Lead
L1 - L4 (£42,305 - £47,706)
Starting: September 2023 (or earlier by negotiation)

Castleway has a proud history in the heart of the community. We openly celebrate diversity and expect the highest standards of respect from and for all. Children from across The Unity Federation are encouraged to work together, co-operate and communicate positively with others. We aim for all children in both of our schools to develop a love of learning and to recognise and value themselves and their own unique skills and abilities.

We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher with specific responsibility for Nursery School & Early Years to join our Senior Leadership Team alongside Stuart Mycroft, our Executive Headteacher.

The successful applicant will be:

An outstanding EYFS practitioner, actively researching and developing best practise, with a thorough knowledge of the latest EYFS curriculum and assessment expectations.

Committed to, and be able to evidence, raising standards and improving life chances for all children whatever their starting points.

Potentially have prior involvement in an Ofsted inspection and experience of playing an active part in the action planning and implementation of improvements in response to report recommendations.

A strategic thinker with a clear vision for the future development of our EYFS provision across The Unity Federation.

An inspiring leader and outstanding role model who is able to communicate clearly and inspire others.

Resilient, enthusiastic and solution focused, willing to try new initiatives or ways of working to solve problems.

Committed to safeguarding and pastoral care.

Committed to team working and collaboration with colleagues, parents and carers, governors and as part of the wider community and MNS partnerships.

Committed to developing community engagement, enterprise initiatives and widening horizons throughout the whole school.

Come and see us!

Visits to Castleway are strongly encouraged. Please contact the main office at Castleway to confirm a mutually convenient time. Given that this is a key role to the continued improvement of our Federation of schools, the Headteacher would prefer to arrange 1:1 visits.

Diversity Pledge:

At Castleway, we know that we have far more in common than that which divides us. It is our responsibility to make sure that everyone is welcomed, respected, valued and included as part of the Unity Federation community of schools.

The vision at Castleway is a simple one: 'Be kind. Be confident. Be your best'.

The Unity Federation:

Both schools federated to become 'The Unity Federation' in September 2020. The Federation Headteacher, Stuart Mycroft, took up post at the Primary School in April 2021 and became the Nursery School's substantive Headteacher in October 2021. Both schools co-located on the Castleway site in September 2022 and are benefiting from significant investment from the Local Authority to ensure that our schools continue to grow and shine at the heart of the community.

Closing Date: Wednesday 19th April (Midday)
Shortlisting: Thursday 20th April (after-school)
Visits to Candidate School: Monday 25th April & Tuesday, 24th April
Interviews: Wednesday 26th April
