ASSISTANT ECOLOGIST

Full time - 2 posts - Permanent

Merseyside Environmental Advisory Service

Benefits include: Casual Car User, Local Government Pension, flexible working and CIEEM membership fees.

We are going through an exciting period of rapid growth and are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Ecologist to join our exceptional Ecology team.

The Liverpool City Region has a wealth of nature sites and internationally important coasts and estuaries including the Dee, Mersey, Ribble and Alt estuaries and Wirral and Sefton coasts. We are striving to ensure that the very special wildlife thrives in a vibrant and progressive City Region economy.

Covering the districts of Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, St. Helens Sefton, Wirral and West Lancashire, this post is specifically targeted at individuals who are fairly early in their ecology / planning careers.  If you are working towards a professional membership that would also be helpful.

The Assistant Ecologist will provide essential support to the more experienced members of the ecology team under the supervision of one of our Principal Ecologists and will also provide support to our Local Environmental Record Centre at Court Hey Park.  The role will involve planning work, field survey, evidence gathering, project support, communications, and data and GIS activities amongst other tasks.  The role therefore offers great opportunity for professional development and a clear career development path to more senior roles within the team once sufficient professional experienced has been gained.

As an employee of Sefton Council, you will enjoy the benefits of local government within an established City Region service. The Council are, where possible, operating a hybrid working model which will involve a combination of working from home and when required from a Council office site. Access to your own transport is required and the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends is desirable.

Closing date for receipt of completed applications: 11.55pm, 2nd April 2023.

Interviews are anticipated to take place early to mid to late April 2023.
