About Us:

Hart is a largely rural District in North-East Hampshire and is consistently ranked as one of the best places to live in the UK. The Council works hard to make a positive contribution to the lives of its residents by delivering continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery. We are always open to new ways of delivering services in our community that represent value for money.

The Job:

Looking for a new challenge?  A fantastic opportunity has come up for someone who has already gained relevant years of experience in an environmental role and would now like to broaden their horizon in a small but ambitious local authority.

We are looking for a Sustainability and Climate Change Officer to join us to lead a high-profile work programme supporting the core theme of ‘planet’ within our Corporate Plan. You will work closely with colleagues from across all services, councillors, and outside organisations. You will be coordinating projects, increasing awareness and changing hearts and minds through engagement and effective communication.

The Council has committed to becoming a carbon-neutral authority by 2035 and a carbon-neutral district by 2040. As the council’s specialist officer on climate change and sustainability matters, you will have the opportunity to engage with an interesting and varied workload and you will own the overall action plan and lead the various work streams.

The Applicant:

In this role,

  • You’ll make a positive contribution to the Council’s core values by being helpful, approachable, responsive and taking ownership of challenges and problems, whilst making customers feel welcome and cared for.
  • You’ll be able to broaden your existing experience with the involvement of a variety of projects. We are committed to improving our customer service standards and we are seeking a team member who is positive and proactive and works well as part of a team.
  • You'll be educated to degree level or equivalent and will have at least three years working in an environmental field.
