Job Duties:

We are looking for an individual keen to take the next step in their career and join our land management advisory team. Our ambitious Sustainable Hertfordshire Strategy includes a commitment to improve biodiversity across Hertfordshire by 20% by 2050, this is your opportunity to play a vital role in making this target a reality. You will be involved in everything from identifying opportunities, selling ideas and writing plans to securing funds and delivering environmental improvements.

The Countryside and Rights of Way Service works in partnership with private landowners, communities and other local authorities to develop projects that enhance the environment for people and wildlife. Our land management team has a broad project portfolio encompassing woodland management, heathland restoration, chalk river restoration and developing old railway lines for active travel.

Responsibilities include writing management plans and proposals for environmental improvements, securing external funds, producing specifications, procuring works and managing delivery through contractors, and working collaboratively with our Access and Communities teams.

You will be managing a diverse range of projects, at different stages of development, simultaneously, in locations ranging from urban green spaces to important local wildlife sites and on public and private land. You will become part of an experienced land management team who will support your development in the role.

Your skills should include: excellent communication to establish support for ideas, working independently and with a range of colleagues, partners and the public; able to manage a range of projects from start to finish, prioritising appropriately; an adaptable approach, problem solving and outcome oriented; a well-organised approach to work planning and time management; competent management of allocated resources. 

A full current driving licence is essential, and you will be expected to work in rural locations with difficult terrain.
