Housing Home Visiting Officer
Fixed term for 2 years
2 x Positions Avaliable
The successful candidate will provide advice and guidance in order to prevent homelessness in the Borough by assisting clients to retain present accommodation, and to ensure access to a range of housing options are made available for those that are in housing need.
The postholder will be required to provide a solution-focused home visiting service that assists the Council’s investigation of homelessness applications, establishes the circumstances of housing applicants and, through intervention and negotiation, minimises the number of households that are made homeless by parents, relatives and friends. The postholder will work collaboratively, imaginatively, and proactively with housing applicants, colleagues and other services and organisations to prevent or delay homelessness, move homeless households out of temporary accommodation as quickly as possible and reduce, to an absolute minimum, the number of households placed in emergency accommodation. The postholder will engage positively and proactively with people who are at risk of becoming homeless to ensure that they are provided with the help, advice and support that they need.
The postholder will have experience of working in a housing related field. The postholder must have the ability to travel around the Borough.
