Team Leader - Homelessness Prevention and Advice (1 Year FTC)
Grade PO 37-42 £41,482 - £47,132
We are facing increasing numbers who are presenting as homeless and in temporary accommodation. We need an experienced officer who can help us meet our duties under homelessness legislation who will work to prevent homelessness wherever possible, with a focus on finding housing solutions.
The role
- You will manage a small team on a daily basis who work to prevent homelessness wherever possible . You will provide support, direction, and case supervision as necessary to the team ensure that the Council meets its legal duties under homelessness legislation to those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
- You will work to ensure the achievement of targets and timeframes for prevention and relief duties as well as final duties owed under homelessness legislation.
- You will work closely with other Teams Leaders in the Housing Options Unit to seek the best housing solutions for applicants and the most suitable admissions into available temporary accommodation providing summaries on cases, as necessary.
- You work to ensure customer service delivery, giving advice on complex/ difficult cases as needed and act as a Reviewing Officer for homeless decisions including for the final duty owed as necessary
- You will have contact on a regular basis with other professionals who may advocate or provide support to the homeless and give advice and clarify the Council’s duties if challenged
About you
- You will have experience of working in a frontline team and be able to influence and negotiate successfully.
- You will have a proven track record of working in the prevention of homelessness and investigating homelessness applications and have an excellent understanding of the Councils duties to homeless at all stages
- You will thrive in a busy and challenging work environment and manage conflicting priorities whilst keeping your sense of humour and focus
- You will be able to work flexibly and respond to emergency situations and presentations of homelessness and be able to prioritise your work effectively and be able to remain calm when under pressure.
