The Housing Management Team is responsible for the day-to-day management of approximately 3000 properties across the Wealden District. The housing stock consists of general needs houses and flats, and also retirement living schemes and specialist temporary accommodation.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estate Warden to join our busy Housing Management Team. The post holder will work closely with the Housing Officer in the District, but may also be required to cover and support colleagues within the Housing section.

You will ensure that high standards of maintenance and cleanliness are maintained on the housing estates, working closely with residents groups, and attending estate walkabouts and some evening meetings. Fire Safety inspections and enforcement are a fundamental part of the role.

As well as the ability to work on your own initiative, to be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the ability to work as an effective team member and provide an excellent front line customer focussed service. You will be required to respond to emergency situations that may arise, so you will need to have a flexible attitude.  Community safety is a priority, and you will work with the Housing Officer and external agencies such as the Police and the Fire and Rescue Service to achieve this. This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You will require knowledge of property construction and maintenance and an awareness of health and safety issues in order to carry out estate and property inspections and complete risk assessments.

A full and clean driving licence is required and a Council van for work use and uniform will be provided.

We offer an excellent package, including competitive salary, career average salary pension scheme, an employee benefit scheme offering a range of discounts and salary sacrifice schemes, and discounted leisure centre membership.

Wealden District Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.

We are committed to maintaining a diverse workforce and an inclusive work environment. We value the differences that people bring from all backgrounds and communities and all applications will be treated on merit.
